Chara Reid-Reed, PharmD is the Founder and CEO of the Pharmacist Women Networking Association, a national organization built on the belief that women in pharmacy are stronger together.

Chara's journey in pharmacy was not without its challenges. Coming up in her career without a mentor to lean on, she learned firsthand how isolating it can feel to navigate the complexities of being a female leader in healthcare without a trusted circle to turn to. Rather than accept that gap, she decided to fill it.

What began as a private Facebook group where Chara connected her pharmacist friends quickly grew into something far bigger than she anticipated. When she realized that women across the country were hungry for the same connection, she organized their first in-person dinner program. Ninety women showed up. That night, people came up to her saying the same thing: ‘I can’t believe nobody thought of this.’ And that was the moment Chara knew Pharmacist Women was going to be something special.

When COVID forced the organization virtual, rather than slow down, PWNA expanded nationally, connecting women across state lines and proving that the need for this community was greater than any single city.

Today Chara leads PWNA with a clear mission: to bring women together, help them get in the room with others who have walked the path they are seeking, and ensure that no woman in pharmacy has to figure it out alone.

Her philosophy is simple. Embrace the hard. Find the person who knows what you do not. And always remember that alone we can only help so many, but together, lifting each other as we rise, that is where real impact happens.
